Voices of The Disabled

Naturally, every one of us who is disabled likely has at least one horror story, particularly as we try and move through the Disability system designed and administered by our Federal and State governments.

A lot of folks are aware that Brian has put together a comprehensive ‘answer guide’ chock full of important information to help the applicant complete the Social Security forms, hopefully without having to retain the services of an attorney.  As a matter of fact, this guide contains direct information from a highly experienced attorney who specializes in Social Security Disability cases.

If you haven’t read about it, check it out, then make sure and come back to the post.

One of our members recently wrote to Brian, and we felt that his comments should be shared amongst the other members, and others who are hearing about the Disability Digest for the first time.

Brian,

First off, I just want to say what a tremendous help you have been. And it didnt cost me a dime. Only thing i regret is i did not get to you soon enough. I am in my third round and i had already retained a lawyer before i started using your site,(my fault for not researching better), I just want to let the ignorant people out there know that it is costing me 5300 dollars, thats five thousand three hundred, if i win. I am not the brightest light bulb in the box but, i’m no idiot either! Let those morons see the balance i would have saved if i could have had the GOOD FOTUNE to have bought the book, a savings of 5,175.00! You would have to be a complete idiot not to see the great value this little 125.00 can save you. What if i told all those back stabbers, ” you give me 125 and i will hand you 5000.00 back, They would gladly give the 125.00!!!! But i guess, as the saying goes, “THEY ARE NONE SO BLIND AS THOSE WHO CANNOT SEE”. I’m done with all the idiots out there, sorry, but it got to me. Again, i want to thank you so much for the legal, correct, and pertinant info that it takes to WIN your case, I was too late, but it arms me to the gills so i can help others, again thank you and your staff. Have a wonderful year.

So, it is clear to this member that information is King.  The free mini-course is great, as well, and it should be obvious to anyone that our company is designed and dedicated to help the disabled individual on as many levels as is possible.  Not many companies can say that.

Brian also received a rather tragic email recently.

“Hey Brian,

I am just now getting over a really bad case of the flu and still feel pretty weakened by the past weeks ordeal. However, I felt an update would be good too! I finally am getting the ankle fused but I have to wait until June 18th for the surgery an then it may be several month’s of recoop time. (I am gonna be positive damn it!) though, I have asked for this surgery now I think, 4 yrs????? Anyhow, I am writing this e-mail for another VERY important reason, please feel free to post it if you’d like because it is completely factual. Though I am stupified by the ordeal that the poor bastard’s in this world have to go through!

I’ve a friend, he just passed away yesterday. He was more of an aquantance actually but still the reason’s behind his passing are what really got my blood to boil.

First, this gentleman was a dbl amputee, a fairly good guy, but he definately drank enough beer to sink battleship’s! Matter of fact, the last time I spoke to him was about a month ago, urging him to get signed up with Disability Digest. But of course, he was a stubborn S.O.B. and wasn’t the easiest person to get along with. But what were his reason’s for dying? This is completely mind boggling!

He had recently turned 62. An having been on Disability for a number of year’s because of his situation being a double amputee and having both his legs removed. Well, it seems that since he had turned 62 he was kicked off Disability and switched over to regular Social Security for retirement. (Not an entirely wierd scenario but….) since being converted to Social Security for retirement, he lost his medical benefit’s for his situation or was in the process of having them changed, either way it seems it didnt really matter. His problem was this, because he hadnt quite gotten to get the medical help he needed nor could he qualify for help from the state because of being processed “Retired” he couldnt afford to go to the Doctor’s or seek any medical help because of the “pending” status of his situation. Well, he caught the flu a few weeks back, and being aware of the situation involving his status he realized he was basically out of luck in trying to get medical hellp until A: He could afford to go the doctor’s office or B: Would wait patiently for his benefit’s to be reinstated so he could go to the doc’s office.

He caught the Flu, as I stated several weeks back, but since he couldnt get to the Doc’s office for lack of payment he ended up having the flu virus turn into pnumonia and for lack of anything better to label it, because of the prolonged time he couldnt get help to go the Doctor’s office for a pennicylan treatment to cure the original case of the flu, died from the pnumonia. I am just completely shocked at something so simple snowballing into this nightmare that well for lack of any better reason actually GREATLY contributed to his demise. Anyhow, I just thought, how friggen foolish….how sad.”

How sad, indeed.  What we have here is another example of a disabled person falling through the cracks.  It makes one wonder why the entire system just couldn’t be simplified—–so what if your status is ‘pending’ or some other medical administrative change is taking place?  When a person needs help, they need help.  End of story.

On a brighter note, I am planning on pursuing certain legislators who are aware of the huge backlog in Disability claims, and are seeking measures to assist them with this.  I think we might have some of the answers for them.  Stay tuned for the updates.

Best to all,

Advocate
